Kratom is exploding in popularity these days, and everyone wants a piece of the kratom action. The number of kratom vendors has tripled over the past year, and so has the number of kratom strains. It’s getting hard to keep track of which strain is which!
One of the strains getting the most buzz is white Thai kratom. How does it compare to other strains? What’s the difference? In this article, you will learn about white Thai kratom, what makes it unique, its rich history, and how it is grown.
Kratom in Thailand
Kratom, also known by its scientific name, mitragyna speciosa is an evergreen tree. It can grow up to about 82 feet in height. The leaves are dark green and can grow to about 8 inches long.
The kratom tree is indigenous to Thailand and other regions in Southeast Asia. The trees thrive throughout Thailand in wet marshlands.
Kratom is a tropical tree that grows in hot, humid conditions with wet soil. These are exactly the conditions of the jungles in Thailand. As a result, kratom has been growing wild in Thailand for hundreds of years.
In the early 1900s kratom was first farmed by Thai farmers. Because of their intimate local knowledge of the Thai kratom trees, these farmers developed an extensive methodology for growing and harvesting kratom leaves that they have passed on for generations.
Despite originating in Thailand and still retaining the name, white Thai Kratom is not farmed in Thailand anymore. Because kratom is currently illegal to grow in Thailand, white Thai kratom is actually grown in the Sumatra Islands or other places in Indonesia.
Historically, kratom has its roots in traditional culture. Ancient people used white Thai kratom to promote energy and alertness as well as a sense of wellbeing.
It is important to note that although the origins of white Thai kratom are closely linked to ancient traditional culture, currently kratom remains illegal in Thailand. Furthermore, the FDA has not approved kratom.
In 1943 the Thai government passed the Kratom Act 2486, making it illegal to plant kratom trees. Furthermore, it placed kratom in a category of narcotics. Following this change, kratom farms and kratom possession were both declared illegal.
There have been many attempts to make kratom legal again, arguing kratom has many positive qualities and kratom export could be advantageous to the Thai economy. Recently Thailand passed laws that legalized kratom growth for local purposes. Further attempts to legalize export and and posession by locals are still ongoing.
White Thai Kratom
The Thai kratom strain can come in any of the usual sub-strains: red vein, white vein, or green vein. The color classification of any kratom is dependent on the colors in the stem and leaves.
Careful examination of the kratom tree leaves reveals different shades in the veins. The different colors indicate a different chemical composition. Because the different plants are grown under different conditions, they manifest different compositions and therefore different colors depending on how they are grown.
Red vein kratom is harvested when the veins are red, green is harvested when the veins are green, and of course, white vein kratom is harvested when the veins are white. There are many resources to learn more about the different colors of kratom. After harvesting, the kratom leaves are dried indoors without exposure to light.
Because white Thai kratom leaves are harvested with white veins, they are the youngest out of the three colors. This means that the leaves are softer and more delicate, and not quite as fully formed.
White Thai Kratom Composition
Due to the environment in Thailand Thai kratom has the most diverse range of alkaloids present. Because the white Thai kratom leaves are harvested when they are young, the leaves are smaller and more potent. This means that the chemical composition is more concentrated.
The combination of the range of alkaloids and the early harvesting age means that white Thai kratom has one of the most concentrated and fully ranged compositions of alkaloids on the market today.
Finding a Reputable Vendor
When looking to buy any kratom in bulk it is important to make sure you have a reputable kratom vendor. This is especially true when talking about the white vein variety, and the Thai kratom strain due to the delicate balance of alkaloids in the leaves.
You never want to go to a third-party vendor, as they often can’t verify their source information or the origins of their kratom. The kratom market is still up and coming, so it’s important to take proper steps to buy from reputable vendors.
You always want to do your research and find a vendor who takes the time to educate their customers on the quality and origins of their products.
