The kratom tree, Mitragyna speciosa, was first documented as early as 1836. While kratom used to be relatively confined to a few Southeast Asian islands, today, you can find kratom in all sorts of stores worldwide. Kratom has become especially popular in the Western world in recent years.
When buying kratom, you might be unsure about the different kratom colors. After all, there is red vein kratom, green vein kratom, and more. What is the difference between these different kratom colors, and do the colors really matter?
There are three primary types of kratom colors: red, white, and green. While there are other types of kratom than just these three, the other types have to do with the quality or processing of the kratom rather than the type of kratom itself. Keep reading and learn more about the different strains of kratom below.
What You Need to Know About Red Vein Kratom
One of the most popular strains of kratom of all time is red vein kratom. This strain is known as red vein kratom due to its appearance. The kratom tree is known for its unique appearance.
When the tree is young, its leaves and the veins of the leaves are green. However, as the tree matures, the veins of the leaves will slowly start to turn red while the rest of the leaf remains the same color. This gives the tree quite a striking appearance.
When the veins of the leaves turn red, this means that the tree is fully mature. The veins of the leaves will be different colors if the tree is not quite mature yet. It is believed that the color of the leaf veins changes due to the changing alkaloid content in the leaves as the tree gets older.
The Details
Alkaloids are not unique to the kratom tree and can be located in a variety of other plants, such as coffee. When you go into a store and find red vein kratom for sale, you will find that it comes in a variety of different forms. Powders and capsules are both very common forms, although, in some cases, whole leaves may be available, although this is not common.
It is always important to make sure that the quality of the kratom is good. You can ensure this by buying your kratom from a reputable kratom dealer. A reputable kratom dealer will have plenty of good reviews from happy customers.
On the other hand, a kratom vendor may not be very reputable if it has nothing but negative reviews from unhappy buyers.
What Is White Vein Kratom?
A mistake that many people make is believing that different kratom strains come from different plants, but this is not true. As mentioned before, the veins on the leaves of the kratom tree change color as the tree ages. While red veins appear when the tree is fully mature, the veins are other colors when the tree is younger.
When the veins on the leaves are white, this means that the kratom tree is still very young. White kratom is yet another very popular strain of kratom, although it is not quite as popular as red vein kratom. White vein kratom also goes through a process that is quite different than that of red vein kratom.
In particular, white vein kratom goes through a unique curing process. This process involves drying the leaves soon after they’re harvested from the kratom tree. The drying process is very detailed.
What to Know
The leaves must not be exposed to light as they dry. If they are exposed to light, the leaves will change color and be ruined.
For that reason, they need to dry out inside. The room needs to have good airflow to suck the moisture from the leaves.
Often, the drying room is air-conditioned, but not always. Once the leaves are dry, they should be ready for distribution. However, in some cases, white vein kratom leaves may be fermented after being dried.
This will change the composition of the leaves to a certain extent. The fermentation process is unique since most types of kratom aren’t fermented before being distributed and put up for sale.
Green Vein Kratom
Green vein kratom is the last of the three types of kratom colors. As the name suggests, the veins on the kratom leaves are green. When the veins are green, this means that the kratom plant is in its mid-life.
So, when the plant is young, the veins will be white, and when it gets a bit older, they will turn green until they finally turn red once the plant is fully mature. Green vein kratom is actually quite similar to white vein kratom, while the red vein strain is more unique.
As with the white vein kratom, green vein kratom also has to go through a long drying process before it can be distributed. However, the drying process is a bit different. At first, green vein kratom has to be dried in a dark area indoors with plenty of air conditioning.
However, after the leaves start to dry out, the leaves will then be put outside until the leaves are completely dry and ready for distribution.
All About the Different Kratom Colors
There are three main kratom colors that you can buy: green vein, white vein, and red vein kratom. All of these strains come from the same tree but are harvested when the tree is at a different stage of maturity. These days, you can find all three types available at a variety of stores and online.
