Finding kratom around Mount Vernon, Illinois, requires a little more checking than simply searching for the nearest smoke shop. Several tobacco and vape retailers operate in Mount Vernon, but current public listings do not consistently confirm that each one keeps kratom in stock. That makes calling ahead important if you want to buy locally.
For buyers who prefer to review product information before ordering, EZ Kratom ships to Mount Vernon and other eligible Illinois destinations. Its online catalog includes powders, capsules, and extracts, with product information and laboratory documentation available online.
Illinois currently allows kratom under state law for adults 18 and older, although several proposals introduced during the 2025-2026 General Assembly could substantially change the rules. Mount Vernon’s current posted municipal code does not contain a kratom-specific prohibition, but local regulations should always be checked again before purchasing.
Key Takeaways
- Kratom remains legal in Illinois under the current Kratom Control Act, which prohibits sales to and possession by people under 18.
- Local smoke and vape shops may not publish kratom inventory online, so buyers should confirm availability before making a trip.
- Product labels and laboratory documentation matter because research has found inconsistencies between some commercially sold kratom products and their labels.
- Vein-color names do not guarantee different effects. Research has not established consistent human or animal effects based solely on red, green, or white labeling.
- Illinois lawmakers considered several kratom bills in 2026, but the major proposals reviewed for this guide had not become law as of October 1, 2026.
- Online ordering can make documentation easier to review because buyers can compare product information before placing an order.
1. EZ Kratom (Online, Ships to Mount Vernon, IL)
Ships to: Mount Vernon, IL and other eligible Illinois addresses
EZ Kratom is the most straightforward option for Mount Vernon buyers who want to review strain choices, product formats, sourcing information, and testing documentation before ordering. The company ships to legal jurisdictions and does not currently list Mount Vernon or Jefferson County among its restricted Illinois destinations.
EZ Kratom states that it sources kratom from family-owned farms in Southeast Asia. The company also publishes lab test information for products and describes a quality-control process that holds batches until laboratory testing has been completed.
Its catalog includes traditional powder, kratom capsules, kratom extracts, and enhanced powder products.
What to Expect
- Published testing information: Product-specific laboratory information is available online.
- Multiple product formats: Powder, capsules, extracts, and enhanced powder options are available.
- Documented sourcing: EZ Kratom states that its kratom comes from family-owned Southeast Asian farms.
- Age policy: EZ Kratom requires purchasers to be at least 21 even though current Illinois state law sets the statutory minimum at 18.
- Return policy: The company publishes a 30-day guarantee with refunds or exchanges calculated according to the amount of product returned.
- Shipping restrictions: Orders are accepted only for jurisdictions where EZ Kratom determines shipment is permitted.
2. Vapors 4 U Mt. Vernon
Location: 604 S 42nd St, Mount Vernon, IL 62864
Hours: Monday-Saturday 10:00 AM-7:00 PM; Sunday 12:00 PM-5:00 PM
Vapors 4 U operates a Mount Vernon location along the South 42nd Street retail corridor. Current business listings confirm the storefront and operating hours, but they do not reliably document current kratom inventory.
Buyers specifically visiting for kratom should contact the store before traveling rather than assuming a vape-shop listing means a particular kratom brand or format is available.
What to Expect
- Vape-focused retail inventory
- Physical Mount Vernon storefront
- Seven-day operating schedule
- Kratom inventory should be confirmed before visiting
3. VIP Smoke Shop
Location: 415 S 42nd St Ste B, Mount Vernon, IL 62864
Hours: Monday-Sunday 9:00 AM-10:00 PM
The retailer currently listed at 415 S 42nd St is VIP Smoke Shop. Older directories identify a different business name at this address, so shoppers using older listings may encounter outdated information.
Current business data confirms VIP Smoke Shop as an active tobacco retailer. Public listings do not clearly establish its current kratom selection, so calling ahead is appropriate.
What to Expect
- Tobacco and smoke-shop inventory
- Daily operating hours
- Convenient South 42nd Street location
- Confirm kratom availability directly
4. Main Street Smoke Shop
Location: 313 S 10th St, Mount Vernon, IL 62864
Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-10:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday 9:00 AM-10:00 PM
Main Street Smoke Shop remains an active tobacco and vape retailer near central Mount Vernon. Its relatively long daily operating hours make it one of the more accessible local options for shoppers looking for a same-day purchase.
Current public business information confirms the shop itself, but not a dependable kratom catalog. Buyers should ask specifically about powder, capsules, or other kratom products before visiting.
What to Expect
- Tobacco and vape-shop format
- Central Mount Vernon location
- Evening and weekend hours
- Current kratom stock should be verified first
5. Breeze Tobacco & Vape
Location: 101 Davidson Ave Ste A, Mount Vernon, IL 62864
Hours: Monday-Wednesday 8:00 AM-10:00 PM; Thursday-Saturday 8:00 AM-11:00 PM; Sunday 8:00 AM-10:00 PM
Breeze Tobacco & Vape is an active Mount Vernon retailer with extended hours throughout the week. Its current listing identifies it as both a tobacco and vape shop.
As with several local stores, its public business profile does not provide a dependable live kratom inventory. Calling before visiting helps avoid making a trip for a product or format that is not currently stocked.
What to Expect
- Tobacco and vape inventory
- Seven-day schedule
- Late closing hours on several days
- Kratom selection should be confirmed directly
6. Tri Moon Vapes
Location: 801 Broadway St, Mount Vernon, IL 62864
Hours: Monday-Saturday 10:00 AM-8:00 PM; Sunday 12:00 PM-6:00 PM
Tri Moon Vapes operates on Broadway Street in Mount Vernon. Current business listings confirm the shop as an active vape retailer with regular weekday and weekend hours.
Public information does not clearly document a current kratom lineup, so buyers should not assume a specific strain, brand, or format is available based only on the shop category.
What to Expect
- Vape-shop retail format
- Broadway Street location
- Open seven days a week
- Call ahead for kratom availability
7. Hippies Heaven (Centralia)
Location: 433 S Locust St, Centralia, IL 62801
Hours: Monday-Friday 10:00 AM-8:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday 12:00 PM-5:00 PM
Hippies Heaven is in Centralia rather than Mount Vernon, which is why this guide uses “around Mount Vernon” in the title. Among the regional stores reviewed, its current public business description specifically identifies kratom as part of the store’s broader product selection.
That makes it a more clearly documented regional option than retailers whose public listings only identify them as tobacco or vape shops. Inventory can still change, so confirming the desired product before driving to Centralia is sensible.
What to Expect
- Kratom specifically identified in current business information
- Head-shop, tobacco, and vape inventory
- Located outside Mount Vernon in Centralia
- Confirm current kratom formats before traveling
Is Kratom Legal in Illinois?
Yes. As of October 1, 2026, Illinois’s current Kratom Control Act remains in effect. It prohibits anyone under 18 from knowingly purchasing or possessing kratom and prohibits sellers from furnishing kratom to someone under 18.
Mount Vernon’s current municipal code is published through Ordinance 2026-30, passed September 8, 2026. The searchable code does not contain a kratom-specific prohibition. The code publisher cautions that online municipal codes may not always reflect the newest local legislation, so buyers should verify recent ordinances if local rules are a concern.
Several proposals could change Illinois law if enacted. HB4737 would create a Kratom Consumer Protection Act, raise the minimum sales age to 21, establish labeling rules, prohibit certain synthetically derived compounds, and repeal the existing Kratom Control Act. It was re-referred to the House Rules Committee in March 2026.
A separate proposal, SB3160, would prohibit the purchase, possession, sale, and distribution of kratom statewide. It was re-referred to Senate Assignments in May 2026 and had not become law as of October 1.
Another measure, HB4930, would prohibit sales of kratom products for human use unless approved by the FDA. It also remained pending rather than enacted as of October 1, 2026.
Best Kratom Strains for Illinois Buyers: Green, Red, White, and Yellow
Kratom products in the United States are commonly marketed as red, green, white, or yellow varieties. These names can help organize a retailer’s catalog, but buyers should not treat the color label as proof that a product will produce a particular effect.
University of Florida researchers note that red, green, and white products come from the same species, Mitragyna speciosa, and that scientific evidence has not established consistent differences in effects between those color categories in animal or human studies.
A published study comparing commercially labeled red, green, and white products similarly found no significant differences in alkaloid content across the tested strain labels, despite users reporting different subjective experiences.
Green, Red, and White
Red, green, and white are established commercial categories and may relate to leaf characteristics, sourcing, processing, or how the finished powder is marketed. Recent botanical research shows that leaf development, processing conditions, geography, and genetics can all influence kratom chemistry.
For buyers, this means a color name alone provides less information than a batch-specific laboratory report.
Yellow Kratom
Yellow kratom is primarily a commercial category associated with processing or blending rather than one of the commonly recognized natural red, green, and white vein colors. Buyers can view yellow vein products as another catalog category, but the same rule applies: the label itself does not verify a particular effect.
Why Some Illinois Buyers Prefer Ordering Kratom Online
Product Documentation
Online vendors can make laboratory reports, ingredient information, sourcing statements, and return policies available before checkout. That gives buyers more information to review than they may find on a smoke-shop shelf.
This matters because a 2026 University of Florida study found that 85% of tested products had chemical compositions that differed from their labels.
Selection
Physical stores have limited shelf space. An online catalog can carry several powder varieties alongside capsules and extracts without depending on a single store’s current inventory.
EZ Kratom, for example, lists red vein kratom, green vein kratom, white vein kratom, yellow products, capsules, and extracts online.
Ability to Compare Before Ordering
Online purchasing gives buyers time to review product descriptions and available testing information before deciding what to order. Local stores can still be convenient for same-day shopping, but their kratom selection and supporting documentation may not be published in advance.
Legal Shipping Controls
Responsible online sellers can restrict checkout or shipping for jurisdictions where kratom is prohibited. EZ Kratom publishes a list of restricted destinations and requires customers to comply with applicable state and local laws.
Why EZ Kratom Stands Out for Mount Vernon Buyers
For Mount Vernon residents who want to review product information before purchasing, EZ Kratom provides a more documented buying process than relying on uncertain local inventory.
The company publishes laboratory information, sourcing details, shipping restrictions, and its return policy online. Buyers can also compare powders, capsules, and extracts without traveling between several Mount Vernon or Centralia retailers to find out what is currently on the shelf.
EZ Kratom also applies a 21-and-over purchasing policy, which is stricter than Illinois’s current statutory minimum. For buyers prioritizing documentation and selection, it provides a consistent online option that ships to Mount Vernon while kratom remains legal there.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is kratom legal in Illinois in 2026?
Yes. Illinois currently allows kratom for adults 18 and older under the Kratom Control Act. Several bills introduced during the 2025-2026 General Assembly propose stricter regulations or prohibition, but the measures reviewed for this guide had not become law as of October 1, 2026.
How can I verify kratom laboratory testing?
Look for a batch-specific Certificate of Analysis or laboratory-results page that identifies the tested product or batch. A general statement saying a product is “lab tested” provides less information than an accessible report tied to the product being purchased.
Does EZ Kratom ship to Mount Vernon, Illinois?
Yes. EZ Kratom ships to eligible Illinois destinations, and Mount Vernon and Jefferson County are not currently listed among its restricted Illinois locations. Buyers should still review the current shipping policy before ordering because laws and shipping restrictions can change.
What types of kratom does EZ Kratom sell?
EZ Kratom sells traditional kratom powder, capsules, liquid extracts, powder extracts, and enhanced products. Its catalog includes products marketed under green, red, white, and yellow categories.
Do red, green, white, and yellow kratom labels guarantee different effects?
No. Color and strain names are commonly used for commercial categorization, but scientific research has not established predictable human effects based solely on a red, green, white, or yellow label. Batch composition and processing can vary, which is why product-specific laboratory information is more useful than relying on a color name alone.
These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Kratom is intended for adults 21 years of age or older. Consult a licensed healthcare provider before using any botanical product, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition.
