Kratom powder is one of America’s hottest new obsessions in the alternative wellness community.

With so many health promotions or enhancements, kratom is sure to pique people’s interest. But where do you buy it?
That’s exactly what we’re here to help you with. We’ll show you where to find it and the “dos” and “don’ts” of purchasing it.
Let’s get this party started!
Where Not To Buy Kratom
If you hadn’t figured out already, kratom is a little harder to find than just strolling into your local Walmart or GNC. The reason being is the legality of kratom is still a hot button issue.
Kratom’s legality is handled on a state level, and stores like GNC and Walmart are nationally-owned franchise chains. It would be too difficult for them to manage kratom inventory in states where it’s legal vs states where it’s considered illegal.
The Legality Issue
If the previous paragraphs alarmed you at all, don’t worry. Kratom is still, in fact, legal. However, that depends on what area of the country you’re in.
Based on our research, the states where kratom is legal far outnumber the states where it’s illegal which means you should still be able to buy it. Nevertheless, if you’re curious, here are the states where kratom is illegal:
- Rhode Island
Another important note on legality: kratom is technically legal in Tennessee. However the law there is a little murkier than in other areas of the country. Tennessee’s stance on kratom is a resident can be in possession of kratom legally if it is in its naturally-derived form.
If you’re in possession of synthetic kratom within the State of Tennessee, it is considered illegal and will result in felony possession of a Schedule I drug charge. This is why it is extremely important to know the laws in your area before purchasing kratom.
Where To Buy Kratom
We’ve established that you won’t be able to find kratom in the “big box” retailers. So where do you go to get it?
If you’re in a state where it’s legal, you should be able to find it at a local herbal/health shop or smoke shop. You can also order kratom online. In fact, even if you’re a local business, like an herbal shop or smoke shop, you can purchase wholesale kratom online to sell on your shelves.
Buying Kratom Online
We cannot stress enough the importance of knowing the local laws in your area regarding kratom. This applies to buying kratom online too. It’s easy to assume that because it’s offered online, it must be legal everywhere.
Do your homework!
Once you’ve found out that kratom is legal in your area, then you can move forward with purchasing it online. The plant itself is still very new and there are very few trustworthy online kratom retailers. One highly reviewed online kratom retailer is us, EZ Kratom!
However, when looking to order kratom online from other retailers just make sure that you’re getting raw, natural kratom powder. Some kratom retailers on the internet are selling fake kratom with additives that could prove deadly.
Locating Kratom Vendors
If you’re having trouble finding kratom locally, there are resources available. Kratom Maps is an app to help you find kratom based on your location. Within the app, you can select a radius around your location, and the app will locate shops with kratom within that radius.
In addition to Kratom Maps, you can also search Google Maps. Search Google Maps for Kratom just like you would anything else, and results will come back with ratings, contact info, and addresses. From there you can choose your closest shop and head there.
Keep in mind that you need to determine is kratom legal in your state, county, or city. Only states where it’s legal will get results from Google Maps.
Choosing a Kratom Vendor
There are a few things that you are going to want to consider when deciding where to purchase your kratom. Ultimately, you’re using your hard-earned money to purchase this product. For that reason, you want to “look before you leap” when choosing a kratom vendor.
Firstly, You want to make sure the store you’re shopping in carries your favorite products. That’s an obvious one, and it’s pretty self-explanatory
Secondly, you want to research the vendor’s certification and testing processes. Products being sold should be tested for identity. This means products need to be tested to make sure they are, in fact, pure kratom.
Once they are verified to be pure kratom powder, they need to be labeled as such. Also, tests should be ran for contamination to verify the sample’s purity as well.
After that, it’s a good idea to check their website. You’ll want to take a look at the content they’re putting out there. Are they providing educational material on kratom uses and benefits? Are they up-to-date on the latest developments in the kratom world?
You’ll also want to ask your vendor some questions. Even if you don’t have many, come up with a few to ask. By asking them questions, you can see how quickly they respond and their level of customer service.
Be Careful When Buying Locally
Kratom is a great tool that can promote combatting many health issues. However, it still needs to be used carefully.
Buying locally can present challenges because of ignorant shop-owners, people selling expired products, or smoke shops selling “legal high” products. Legal high products aren’t raw kratom.
These products can typically contain other substances like synthetic marijuana or salvia and are unregulated. Steer clear of these.
